DMPonline release notes: April 2019
We do appreciate your feedback, as it is very valuable for us to know what works well for you, or anything else you wish to be fixed, improved or deployed! If you are interested to see what we are currently working on please have a look at our roadmap.
Our team of developers have been working very hard, and we have some exciting news about our latest release. If you wish to read about the changes individually, have a look at the release information here. I am providing you a summary below.
Review Workflow
Owners of DMPs now only receive a notification once the whole review is completed rather than one email per comment. The default setting is that users have the notifications switched off. We have also raised a new ticket where we will deploy digest style for notifications (e.g. daily, weekly or monthly) so users have more control on their settings.
We also updated the text of the email notification that is issued so it is clearer for users. The email now provides the plan name and user details instead of placeholder text.
Also, it was not clear which sections the reviewer had commented on. Therefore, we have added a message to the reviewer’s email where the owners and co-owners of the plan will be notified about the section name and question number where the comments have been added.
Formatting and display improvements
Some of our formatting did not work correctly and we have gone through various tickets to ensure that the text displays correctly. This included for example making sure that the guidance text does not go beyond the table and is wrapped in the right hand side panel. We have also made various adjustments so tables display correctly. Another ticket we closed, was in relation to formatting of the downloaded plans. Previously, the questions and answers would display as a plain text and it was difficult to see the difference between these two. Now, when you download your plan you will clearly see the difference between the questions (which now display in bold) and answers (that display as a plain text).
We have also changed the view for DMP reviewers. Previously the text boxes could not be expanded as you had read-only permissions so content could be truncated and text missed. We tried various fixes unsuccessfully but finally resolved to display this text as HTML outside of TinyMCE text edit boxes so it always displays in full and content is never missed.
New features and enhancements
You’ll spot a number of new things on the admin interface. You can now add a date format as a type of question, we have enhanced the usage dashboard to show the number of plans by template and another fix that significantly improves usability is that the search boxes are finally not case sensitive!
Bugs
We had some temporary JavaScript issues in Internet Explorer where dropdowns and sections couldn’t be opened. This has now been fixed, as well as some table sorting functionality bugs. Benjamin from DMP OPIDoR has also fixed a formatting bug with the text in the footer of PDF export – many thanks!
